Heat Recovery Ventilators

Heat Recovery Ventilators A LIFEBREATH Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV) is the key ingredient to fresh air inside your house without sacrificing savings to your modern energy efficient home. Powerful centrifugal blowers bring in dry, fresh air from outside while exhausting stale, humid inside air. Both the incoming and outgoing air streams pass through the patented aluminum, thermally conductive heat exchange core(s). It is here that the heat in the exhaust air is efficiently transferred to the incoming fresh air. Air ducts placed strategically throughout the home disperse the fresh air brought in by the Heat Recovery Ventilator. Another system of ducts exhaust the stale air through the HRV and then outside. It is a very simple concept that works miraculously!

If we examine the house a as complete system the HVR is the lungs. With improvements to building technologies and products having a near airtight house is a reality with top energy efficient buildings having natural air exchange rates lower than one air change per hour. Without an HRV indoor air quality diminishes quickly with an active household creating a stuffy moist environment. This can lead to increased indoor air pollutants, mould and mildew growth and rot in your building components. A Home Ventilation Institute (HVI) certified HRV is the most efficient way of controlling indoor air quality & humidity problems and can be built into a new or existing forced air heating and cooling system.

Grey-Bruce Coatings & Insulation is a certified HRV installer licensed by Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI).
